Topological sand modeling and prototyping form the basis for every design process. Our designs are tested on precise cnc-formed sand models and transferred into 3D models though photogrammetry for analysis. Design operations – additions and subtractions – applied to the existing landscape can be compensated locally, minimizing the transportation of material. In the atelier, physical modeling alternates with digital analysis to be able to develop tangible and precise landscape structures. Throughout the design process, various prototypes are generated with cnc-milling-technology to verify the design and to present the implementation to the client. Atelier Girot collaborates with the LVMLab, ETH Zurich for particular project needs.
