Izuran Resort, Marrakech

with Associati Architectes Associés, 2007-2008

The garden of the Izuran Resort in Marrakech is founded on the existing qualities of a site encompassing 15 hectares and approximately 1000 trees. Atelier Girot defined the master plan as well as the landscape plan for this project. The program includes a hotel, its leisure areas and spa; as well as ten individual villas. Individualized gardens of quality within a complex distribution system had to be resolved. The central axis traversing the entire site becomes the structural base for the entire project. Water, its distribution and collection plays a major structural role, using the light slope of the terrain to convey the main circulation paths, in reference to rich cultural use of water in Andalusian architecture and landscape garden design. To the existing trees, a rich palette of fruit trees will be added. It is a place to awaken the senses, a place to dream and relax.
