Parc Saint Serge, Angers

with Atelier Phusis, Dusapin & Leclerc Architectes, 1996-2000

The Parc Saint Serge in Angers is part of a larger urban development for the new CNP Insurance headquarters designed by the Architects Dusapin & Leclercq. The 2-hectare park, completed in 2000, is built entirely on the roof of a parking garage. The garden is comprised of trees planted directly into the ground through the underlying parking structure. The design has a refined water garden and brimming pool. The minimalist lawn area is used for a variety of events, and also serves as a safety platform in case of flash floods from the Maine River, which the park overlooks. The park is connected to a broader pedestrian area, which connects the heart of Angers along the river.
