Park O.M. Fiat, Milano

with De Ferrari Architect & PLG Architects, 1998-2002

The Park Fiat O.M. is the result of a new strategy by the city of Milano to develop a series of parks at the scale of the modern city. The park is directly connected to the existing 19th century park Ravizza, which is in the proximity of the renowned Bocconi business school. Bordered by a series of high-rise apartments, the park is meant to provide a place for nature and relaxation for the pedestrians along the very loud and busy Corso Torino. A large open lawn is designed to offer a generous depth of horizon in the middle of this dense city. Alongside the Corso Torino, an open-air theatre is planned as well as several other recreational and sport areas. Amidst this modern identity however, the park renews its ties to an old Renaissance waterway that has been restored, namely the canal Vettabia designed by Leonardo da Vinci.
