Ilot B3 ZAC Seguin, Boulogne-Billancourt

with Lipsky+Rollet Architectes, 2006-2012

After a long history of competitions and designs, the site of the old Renault factories in Boulogne-Billancourt is being developed. The urban approach adopted by the city is considered as one of the most innovative in matters of contemporary urban design. The area is composed of large blocks of 2 to 3 hectares and a large park; each block is the subject of a competition. In July 2005, Lipsky+Rollet Architects and Atelier Girot Landscape won the competition for the Ilot B3. The largest of all the blocks that will form the future neighborhood, Ilot B3 has the privilege of bordering a central park. The buildings were placed to optimize the views of the Seine River and the park and to allow a maximum of light to enter the apartments. The central core of the block was designed as a garden. Water from the roofs is collected along a central path and become small percolating ponds with their respective vegetation and ecology. Ilot B3 is due to be completed in 2012.
